According to research from Asda, 1 in 10 over 60s go to the supermarket just to chat with someone, so over the festive season Asda employees wore ‘Happy to talk’ badges, to encourage customers to stop for a chit chat. Throughout what can be, the loneliest time of year, these badges were also rolled out to the delivery drivers so that those who aren’t able to get to the shops could enjoy some company too.

Paloma Faith and Sky kids choir reimagine ‘Silent Night’ for neurodivergent children

From busy crowds to overstimulating decorations, Christmas time can be an overwhelming experience, especially for children who are neurodiverse. In recognition of this, Sky Kids partnered with singer Paloma Faith to release a special rendition of the carol ‘Silent Night’, which focuses on many of the challenges faced by neurodiverse children during the festive season. The lyrics focus on how to tackle sensory overload while still enjoying the holidays.

B&Q and Shelter reveal harsh reality of temporary accommodation at Christmas –

With a record number of people spending the holidays in temporary accommodation, B&Q teamed up with homelessness charity Shelter to release a series of Christmas ornaments showing the stark reality for people in these circumstances. These snowglobes depicted conditions such as broken utilities or a rat infestation to raise awareness of the dire conditions so many people are living in. To make an immediate impact, B&Q has also donated £1 from every tree sold in December to Shelter.
