On the newly recognised, ‘World Cleanup Day’, Decathlon let customers pay for rentals by collecting litter. The ‘Rentals for Rubbish’ scheme rewarded customers for cleaning up their local areas by offering money off rentals on a range of sports equipment, including bikes, paddleboards, and camping gear.

By encouraging the public to not only clean up their local communities but get outside and exercise this scheme has a lovely dual message. Hoping to collect 5,000 pieces of rubbish throughout the scheme, Decathlon wants to remind everyone that ‘nature is the original playground’.

Gymshark creates new street gyms from melted down knives to tackle knife crime epidemic

To tackle the knife crime epidemic, gymwear brand Gymshark has partnered with Steel Warriors to use knives taken off the street to create free outdoor gym equipment. The knives have been melted down to be recycled into the equipment, in the hope that the new apparatus will instill the important concepts of routine and discipline into the minds of at-risk youths.

The free Gymshark x Steel Warriors street gyms are in North London, South London and East London, with classes and no booking required so that all people need to do is show up.

With 65% of people now opting to buy second-hand, preloved made its way to the front and centre of the fashion world this September. Oxfam and Vinted partnered to hold a joint catwalk show this London Fashion Week, with famous faces including Vick Hope and Deborah Meaden modelling the pieces. Every outfit was available to purchase with money raised going to Oxfam to help support people living in poverty.

In addition, the phone manufacturer installed a hearing test on the device. The test taps into large-scale data studies that Apple used to develop its hearing loss features, and it only takes five minutes. This is a massive step in the right direction for Apple, making its technology accessible and highlighting the importance of looking after your hearing.
